It seems that Christmas and New Year are long gone and nobody talks about it anymore, but I still have a couple more posts on the subject - promise they are the last ones (and I'll try to be more organized with the posts...)!
This year we wanted to try the English tradition of crackers: on Christmas Eve, everyone has at least one cracker to open with the person sitting next to, both pull on each side and the one left with the bigger part receives its content.
It was very funny to read the jokes that are within each one and receive the little gift too, but what caught my attention most was the beautiful paper of the crackers.

* Restos de papel ou cartão
* Forma redonda (a base de um copo, por exemplo)
* Tesoura
* Máquina de costura

Those who know me/follow the blog, might have noticed already that I am not the wasting type, much less throwing away a beautiful and bright paper, so I kept it and put my head to work... and made a New Year's decorationWho says New Year's Eve, also means a partyor simply because you want to; ours is still hanging and will continue until I'm tired of it.I leave here the tutorial for inspiration, but there are surely similar tutorials on the web:

Materials needed:
* Remains of paper or cardboard
* Round shape (the base of a glass, for example)
* Scissors
* Sewing Machine

The first step is to gather and straighten the papers that you will use.
In my case, as I used the crackers, I had to undo the tube, remove the strip that makes them snap when you pull, and iron them a little to straighten as best as I could.

-<>-
Using a round shape (or more if you want to get several sizes), draw a circle using your paper the best you can, to have a greater number of circles. If you have a machine to do the work for you, like Sizzix, even better, they'll be more perfect and will be done in no time!

The first cut circle will be the mold for the others.

-<>-
With all your circles cut, head over to your sewing machine!

-<>-
Use thread colours that look good with the papers you have chosen, and if you use two different colours the better.
Pedal a little to leave a twisted thread that will be used later to hang.

-<>-
Start now to sew your circles, one at a time, and pedal a little between each one to let little thread.
The length will be according to the place where you want to hang it.
Note: If your paper does not have a pattern/color on both sides, you might want to put two circles together, with the right side facing out, so when it's hanging it will always be colorful. I chose to do only with one circle because I hadn't had enough.

-<>-
In the end of each row, finish with just a little knot.

Here it is, hanging from the ceiling (with tape), above the table.
As I said, it is better to put a paper with a pattern/color on both sides or two circles together, so you don't end up like mine that lets you see the card behind...

Ideias?

I didn't threw away these cracker pendants either... I just don't know what to do with them yet.
Ideas?
