O que tenho andado a fazer / What I've been doing & 2º Desafio - 5º Projecto / 2nd Challenge - 5th Project

Tenho de confessar uma coisa que acho que já tinha dito anteriormente - sou péssima a manter diários actualizados! Adoro ler outros blogs e ver o que fazem, como vivem, como é o dia-a-dia de outras pessoas e gostava de ter sempre vontade de fazer o mesmo... mas a preguiça e/ou a falta de tempo nem sempre o permitem...
Por isso nos próximos posts vou mostrar-vos os projectos que tenho vindo a fazer recentemente, contar-vos mais um pouquinho sobre mim e presentear-vos com um pequeno tutorial que fiz!

I must confess something that I think I already said before - I am terrible on keeping an updated diary! I love reading other blogs and see what you do, how you live, how is your daily life and I wish I had the will to do the same ... but laziness and/or lack of time don't  always allow it... So in the next posts I will show you the projects I have been recently doing, tell you a little bit more about myself and present you with a little tutorial I did!

Lembram-se do 2º Desafio?
Tenho andado a reciclar várias coisas e vou começar por vos mostrar essas novidades.
Esta imagem em cima foi uma foto que tirei com alguns dos meus trapos, que são desperdícios de tecido de fábricas, sendo por isso um material reciclado.
Recentemente no Forum onde sou administradora, o The Crafty Forum, criámos um grupo de Trapilho (nome dado a este material) e outro de Crochet onde também participo, por isso tenho feito algumas coisas para os desafios dos grupos dando uso aos trapos que ainda tenho.

Remember the 2nd Challenge?
I've been recycling many things so I'll start by showing you those.
This image above was a picture I took with some of my rags, which are leftovers from cloth factories, so it is a recycled material.
Recently in the Forum where I am administrator, The Crafty Forum, we created a group about Trapilho (portuguese name given to this material) and another one about Crochet where I also participate, so I have done some things for the challenges of the groups putting the rags that still have to use.

O primeiro desafio foi para aprendermos a fazer círculos e penso que não me saí mal!
Experimentei fazer com linha de crochet e com trapilho, o 2º já está maior e se tudo correr bem será um tapete para o meu atelier.

The first challenge was to learn how to make crochet circles and I think it turned out ok!
I tried to to make it with crochet thread and rags, the 2º one is now larger and hopefully will be a rug for my studio.

Depois dos círculos feitos o próximo desafio era fazer algo com eles por isso decidi experimentar uma técnica que tinha curiosidade para reciclar caixas de sapatos e decora-las para servirem de arrumação no atelier.
A técnica é muito simples: consiste em colar camadas de papel de cozinha absorvente com cola branca até se obter o resultado desejado; depois deixa-se secar muito bem e por fim pinta-se a gosto. Depois deste processo colei os meus círculos com cola quente e forrei as caixas por dentro com papel de embrulho.
Gostei muito do resultado e tenciono reciclar muitas mais desta forma!

After the circles were made the next challenge was to do something with them so I decided to try a technique that was curious about to recycle shoe boxes and decorate them to use as storage in the studio.
The technique is very simple: it consists in gluing layers of paper towels with white glue until you get the desired result; then let it dry thoroughly and finally paint as you like it. After this process I glued my circles with hot glue and lined the boxes inside with wrapping paper.
I really liked the result and I intend to recycle a lot more like this!
