Sobre o Halloween / About Halloween

Já me devia conhecer melhor... no último post disse que publicava novidades brevemente mas acabei por prolongar BASTANTE esse tempo!
Leio blogs diariamente mas não consigo escrever diariamente. Acho que o problema é achar que a minha vida não é suficientemente interessante para ser partilhada publicamente... ehehe


Apesar de já vir um mês atrazada, pela primeira vez passei o Halloween num país onde realmente é tradição celebrar! No entanto, com excepção das decorações nas lojas e em muito poucas casas, não dei por nada. Será normal?
Da janela, não vi ninguém nas ruas, ninguém bateu à porta a perguntar "doce ou travessura?" e eu até estava preparada...


De qualquer modo, quis celebrar o acontecimento e decorei a nossa casa para o efeito:

Despite it was a month ago, I spent the first Halloween in a country where it's actually tradition to celebrate! However, with the exception of the decorations in the stores and very few homes decorated, I didn't notice anything. Is it normal?
From the window, I didn't see anyone on the streets, no one knocked on the door asking "trick or treat?" and I was even prepared to receive such visitors...
Anyway, wanted to celebrate the event and decorated our house for this purpose:

Não liguem ao quadrinho com a flor, já estava cá em casa. É feio e completamente desproporcional para a parede onde está, mas ainda não arranjei (leia-se "fiz") nada para o substituir.
A nossa decoração foi toda handmade, não podiamos estar a comprar decorações mas também não queria deixar de enfeitar a casa.
Recortei as letras de cartão, as abóboras de jornal pintado de laranja com tintas acrílicas e o "véu" preto foi uma esponja de rede, como estas, que se soltou (e até deu jeito!)

Never mind the little picture with the flower, it was already in the house when we got here. It's ugly and completely disproportionate to the wall where it is, but haven't got (read "made") nothing to replace it yet.
Our decor was all handmade because we couldn't be purchasing decorations at this time, but I sure didn't want the occasion to pass and not decorate the house for Halloween, for the first time.
I cut letters out of cardboard, pumpkins out of newspaper painted orange with acrylics, and the "veil" was a black bath sponge, such as these, which we bought and got loose (how useful!)

Também fiz algumas abóboras em feltro e fiz este arranjo com galhos e bolotas apanhadas durante um passeio.

I also did some pumpkins with felt and made this arrangement with twigs and acorns caught during a walk.

 Este foi um projecto inventado de reciclagem que na altura não gostei muito mas depois acabei por achar engraçado.
Pintei o interior de uma garrafa de plástico de branco, com tintas acrílicas, colei-lhe uns morcegos de feltro e depois fiz um pequeno arranjo (se é que se pode chamar assim) de galhos e folhas de jornal e de feltro.

This was a recycling project that I invented. At the time I didn't like it but then it eventually grew on me and I find it funny.
I painted the inside of a plastic bottle with white acrylic paint, glued some felt bats and then I made a little arrangement (if one can call it like that) of twigs and leaves of paper and felt.

Terminado o Halloween, o destino da abóbora da primeira foto foi este: um belo jantar!
Vi uma receita com um nome engraçado, "jantar na abóbora", e decidi experimentar. Não se deixem enganar pela parte da "tampa" queimada, porque estava delicioso!
Tirei a receita de um blog aqui, mas fiz algumas alteraçõezinhas porque não tinha todos os ingredientes. Está em inglês mas facilmente conseguem perceber se usarem o tradutor do Google.
Atenção! Nunca, mas nunca mais deitem sementes de abóbora fora! Ficam óptimas se forem tostadas no forno. Existem várias receitas mas já testei com sal e canela e com manteiga e uma pitada de sal. Recomendo ambas!
Infelizmente na altura ainda nunca tinha testado e não me lembrei, por isso foram fora - que desperdício...

After the Halloween, the fate of the pumpkin from the first picture was this: a nice dinner!
I saw a recipe with a funny name, "dinner in a pumpkin," and decided to try. Do not be deceived by the burned part because it was delicious!
I got the recipe from a blog here, but I did some changes because it didn't have all the ingredients.
Attention! Never again throw out pumpkin seeds! They are great if roasted in the oven. There are several recipes but I tested with salt and cinnamon and butter and a pinch of salt. I recommend both!
Unfortunately at that time I still had never tested and didn't remember to save them, so they were thrown out - what a waste...
